He mentions that they were created by an old friend, Dr. Jacoby from Washington state. Dr. Lawrence Jacoby, portrayed by Russ Tamblyn, was a highly eccentric psychiatrist from the TV show Twin Peaks (IMO, one of the best TV shows ever).
